Brightseed launches BioMetaControl for blood sugar control and metabolic health

Forager, our A.l.-driven platform, identified bioactive compounds NCT and NFT, which have both been shown in pre-clinical studies to support gut health. Forager also predicted the presence of these compounds in more than 80 plants and identified hemp hull as the most naturally enriched source. With this discovery, Brightseed created a proprietary novel ingredient for gut health.
We seek to discover the most high-impact bioactives by examining plants that have been fundamental to our diets and medicines in populations around the world. These specimens are processed through Forager’s analytical process, leading Brightseed to be the first to map the entire plant metabolome. In the same way that mapping the human genome opened tremendous opportunities for understanding the human body, understanding the metabolites plants produce and their natural bioactives will be transformative for our future.
Forager works in three parts: predicting compounds from plant or natural sources, assessing their activity in the body, and determining which source contains each specific health-benefiting bioactive. The pharmaceutical industry has helped illuminate human biological systems and which receptors activate different actions. Forager takes that knowledge a step further with in silco predictions—accurately pairing bioactive compound impacts with their corresponding biological pathway in the human body.
After identifying these predictions, our science team conducts further analyses to predict the compound’s potency to determine its likelihood of triggering a cascade of actions in the human body to influence health and well-being. We then use biological assays to validate our predictions in vitro and take select compounds to clinical trials.
Forager is our A.l. platform that illuminates chemical diversity in plants, microbes, and fungi, and then maps them to human health. It uses four enabling technologies: high-resolution-omics, high-throughput robotics & automation, scalable computing power, and machine learning & artificial intelligence.
Brightseed examines plants and other natural specimens from around the world and digitizes them through Forager’s analytical workflows. Chemists, biologists, and computer scientists work to generate large-scale chemical and biological datasets from each specimen, transforming them into computable data structures for Forager.
Forager rapidly scans the natural world for the best sources of a target bioactive. Using knowledge of our evolutionary relationships among plants, as well as multi-omics information and metabolic inference, our platform makes increasingly accurate predictions of a plant’s ability to produce the specific bioactives we need.
As part of its AI, Forager mines decades of biomedical research to construct a digital model of human health. Using this digital model its algorithms can identify specific bioactives, or combinations of bioactives that can be applied to a biological system such as the gut microbiome, or health outcome.
Our research team designs pre-clinical and clinical trials to translate Forager’s discoveries into bioactive ingredients. Our product team then designs commercially viable, IP-protected natural health products that meet consumer demand for critical health needs.
