BIOACTIVES

What Are
Bioactives?

Bioactives are biologically active small molecules found in plants and microbes, and these tiny compounds affect biology in plants and humans alike. While bioactives surround us in nature, many of them have yet to be formally discovered. In fact, it’s believed less than 1% of these powerful compounds have been mapped by science.

When consumed, bioactives can act as keys unlocking specific receptors in our body, triggering a cascade of biological responses that can support our health and daily functioning. While some bioactives are well known – like the caffeine in our tea and coffee – many have yet to even be discovered. Through our Forager AI platform, we map bioactives found in nature and connect them to their human health benefits.

Brightseed is on a mission to discover bioactives potential for human health, and deliver safe and science-backed ingredient solutions that address consumers’ greatest health needs.

Our Differentiators

What makes our bioactive ingredients unique?

01

Health First

We start first with the health areas that consumers need most and work to uncover novel bioactives with the potential to address them. Our library of plant compounds and human biological systems allow us to accurately pair bioactive compounds with their corresponding health effect in the body.

02

Proving Real Benefits

Our Forager AI pinpoints the bioactive and illuminates how they work in the body, providing an unprecedented insight into their mechanism of action. We then use biological assays to validate our health predictions in vitro and further validate with human clinical trials.

03

Compelling Consumer Story

Our branded bioactive ingredients uniquely communicate their benefits to the end consumer, and we offer the tools to help you co-brand and market the value and benefits of bioactives in your product.
